Textile Recycling Regulations

The Recycling Center's "Clothing Drop Box" will accept only clean, dry items. Soiled, rotted or moldy clothes will contaminate the entire load.
Between 50 and 90 percent of all clothing dropped off will be reused as clothing in its original form. The remaining textiles will be made into wiping rags, batting or roofing material.
Bear in mind that textiles include more than just clothes. Hats, belts, sheets, quilts, drapes, handbags, blankets, bedspreads, curtains, towels, socks and paired shoes are textiles as well.

Huntington Residents are urged to Recycle old clothing and other textiles either by using the charitable drop off boxes or by bringing them to the Recycling Center.

Barbecue Propane Tank Recycling

  • The Recycling Center will accept (at no charge) up to 25 lb. propane gas tanks for safe disposal.
  • For safety reasons, these tanks must never be disposed in normal trash.
  • Tanks must be completely empty or they will be rejected.
  • Empty tanks will be reconditioned or recycled for scrap metal.
